at the red lion
Have visited the Red Lion a few times, since my son & family have recently moved to Myddle. The meals are excellent, a lovely atmosphere with open fire to greet us and a warm friendly atmosphere from Carol & staff. Definately looking forward to more visits there in the future.

Eight of us went for my sons birthday and enjoyed a wonderful evening, the re-furbishment has been done so well, still keeping its old building charm. Food and service was excellent, with a really good choice of dishes. The manager was very attentive I would recommend this restaurant wholeheartedly. I have put this at the top of my list to go back.

We have been to the Red Lion for evening meals since it re-opened a year ago. Passing through Myddle we stopped to try the lunchtime menu £9.95 for 2 courses. We both fancied the Tai curry and I had cheese cake, my wife had sticky toffee pudding, washed down with a guest ale(three to choose from). Food and service were to a high standard as would expect in this lovely country pub.

Our first dining experience at our new local was filled with superbly friendly staff, excellent atmosphere (especially in the bar area), wide range of choice on the menu, deliciously edible food and a reasonable price for all! Keep up the great work!

The management and staff are superb and so friendly, kind and caring. The choice of menu and the quality of the food is superb and the presentation is excellent. Good choice of beers, wines and spirits. Prices are not the cheapest but you get what you pay for and the quality is excellent. It is a family friendly restaurant that has nice grounds to sit out in or for children to have a run around. Have now eaten here twice when visiting the area and both times it has been great. Thank you to Jackie and everyone at the Red Lion.
Great place”

I first popped into the Red Lion just after Christmas following a long walk in the nearby area and was very impressed with the range of beers on tap, the service and the amazing chunky chips then, which led me to booking a table on Good Friday for lunch with my husband and parents. The service here was exceptional - friendly without being intrusive, quickly responding to questions and requests. Most of us chose from the three course set menu which is very reasonably priced indeed - the creamy garlic mushrooms were to die for, and the prawn cocktail was excellent too. For the mains, everyone on the table was equally delighted - the pie of the day was particularly good, and the selection of vegetables, which included samphire, was a pleasant change from the norm. Puddings were also a hit, particularly the chocolate brownie. Overall, the meal was delightful and excellent value for money to boot. We will definitely be back.
Exceptional service, delicious food - we will be back!”

We were staying at the lodge in the grounds so decided to eat there as the pub looked lovely inside and the staff were so friendly. We were so glad we did the food was amazing and nothing was too much trouble. In fact we went back the next day for Sunday lunch, which was equally as good. Just wish we lived closer as we would definitely be regulars.

We drove past this pub many times and often spoke about visiting. Upon walking in we were greeted by friendly bar staff that ensured a table was ready and even put out a baby chair. The food was excellent. Prices are similar to Shrewsbury Town centre, but definitely worth it. The deserts seem pricey but are to die for!!

We booked a table for 16 for my husbands birthday dinner. The staff were helpful at booking and we were in a lovely room up stairs. When we arrived the staff were helpful and friendly. The food was served in good time and was delicious, with so many of us I think we tried most things in the menu and no one was disappointed.

Have eaten here on several occasions while staying at The Lodge. The accommodation is superb... beautifully presented and furnished with everything you need for a self catering break. One of the best cottages we have ever stayed in. The food is also superb with a good range of dishes, excellent presentation and very efficient and friendly young serving staff. A great experience. Thank you.

Came as a table of five friends for a Christmas catch up. Ate on the Christmas menu, the food was lovely, and came with plenty of veg etc. The restaurant had a nice ambiance and the staff were very friendly + professional, Josh was especially good. Will definitely visit the red lion again.

Tasteful & stylish. The only trouble with it is that it's 5 miles from my house - jealous I don't live in Myddle!! I can see us back there time and time again - nice work Lee!!

We first gasped at the wonderful lion face that welcomes visitors from the car park. By the time we opened the door, we were enchanted by the new look of the pub. So class, so serene, so friendly, everything had been given attention and consideration to reach its optimum effect. Food and drink, preparation and presentation, staff, décor and lights, athmosphere and prices, all were in delightful harmony.
The transformation was beyond my expectations. I therefore indulged in a three course meal just to prove to myself that it was perfect in all senses, and it was.
Thank you to your master chef and to your smart waiters who all contributed to our top notch dinner. You made Myddle a must!

Just to say thanks to you and your staff for last night we had a great time with excellent food.

Very good food served in warm, comfortable yet elegant surroundings. Just what a 21st century high end country pub should be.

I have been to the Red lion pre lockdown and the food was lovely, this weekend I was visiting the area again and am happy to report the food is... read more as wonderful as two years ago. I am a vegetarian and a fussy eater so often struggle to find food that I enjoy but having eaten at the Red lion I can honestly say the meal was beautiful.
We went for Sunday lunch which I love but often am unable to enjoy due to limited choices however, the owner Jacqui went out of her way to ensure I had what I wanted and as I chose not to have the veggie option she ensured there were extra vegetables. The pubs interior was very warm and homely with a modern twist and had a lovely welcoming feel, the staff were helpful, friendly and chatty.
We had such a lovely experience that we have been back again today for lunch and needles to say we were not disappointed. The owner Peter made us welcome and even found time to come to our table and check all was well. I can’t wait to return again soon.
I can recommend the Red lion for great company, great food and competitive prices but don’t take my word for it go and try for yourself.NellyFloss

We came here after we couldn’t get into another local pub while on holiday. Well it turned out to be a great problem to have because the food here was... read more really lovely. The staff were accommodating to my children’s fussiness of only eating broccoli as a side and the food was very tasty and to everyone’s liking.

Passed by this establishment on several occasions and noted the car park was always well attended so decided to book a table for our Sunday lunch.
A warm welcome... read more and seated in very very comfortable seats at our table. Fine menu selection and a good selection of ales and wines. Very helpful and attentive staff.
We decided to forego the traditional Sunday roast and opted for the al a carte selection. Our chosen dishes were well presented and more importantly very well enjoyed. Looking forward to the next visit.patron2929

I visited the pub with my husband who is paraplegic and a good friend who had recently lost his wife. When I called to book the lovely lady who took... read more my booking asked if we would mind sitting in the bar area, as they had a group booking in the restaurant.
On arrival we were greeted by the same lovely lady and had a fabulous table, great food, Helen our waitress was fantastic as always.
We spent just short of £200.
We booked for Valentine’s Day dinner, charmingly sold to us by Helen.
However when I returned with a friend the next day for lunch, I asked if I could change the booking to 4 people as my friend wanted to come too.
The Manager Paul? came over, and I asked if we could have the same table in the bar for Valentines night, he responded “we’re putting the Valentines lot, upstairs “ I replied that we wouldn’t be going upstairs as my husband is in a wheelchair, I asked again if we could have the table in the bar because all the restaurant tables have a bar across the bottom, so he wouldn’t be able to get his wheelchair under. His response was “No, I want my regular drinkers in the bar”
The Manager then responded and pointed to a group of people at another table and said “well they’re in wheelchairs “ and walked off. Having cared for my husband for many years, I know what is possible and not for a wheelchair user. I went over to the table and asked the two ladies, if they were able to get their wheelchairs under comfortably.
They responded, that they have to take the footrests off, and are still unable to get close to the table and usually pick their plates up, or just have a sandwich.
I found the Manager, who is the landlord also and advised him. Couldn’t have cared less! I said well I suppose I’ll have to cancel the booking then.
His only response was to ask for my name and cancel, no apology, no compromise nothing.
Having been to the pub 3 times in a month and spent just short of £400 total, I would class myself as a reasonable “local” .
This place is lovely ALL staff with the exception of the Landlord, amazing, as is the food. It is such a shame that he’s never bothered, nor interested to see if his disabled guests are sitted at a disabled friendly table, and comfortable.
My friend was aghast, and could not believe the level of discrimination, it’s something I encounter all over the UK, sad further that it’s on my own doorstep.
Keep up the great work, waiting staff and kitchen you do a fantastic jobbeckyboosmum
